Getting what you want

Make a decision

Everybody wants to implement change in their lives whether it is changing their financial situation, their relationship, their job, their career, anything at all in our lives.

Then why are we stuck in a rut a lot of the time?

3_foundations_of_courageOne of the reasons is that we think it would be nice to have that new job, or get out of the relationship that is damaging us spiritually or emotionally but that's as far as it goes. We don't go beyond thinking it would be a nice possibility.

So how do we get from thinking it would be nice to actually doing something to make it happen?

Well, the first step is to make a decision on what we want. For example I want a job I love, I want to start my own business, I want to save more money.

You have to know what you want in order to start to think about getting it.

Okay now you know what you want, what next. Now you have to make the decision to get it. This is the most important part of getting what you want in life MAKE A DECISION TO WANT IT! If you don't make a conscious decision to want something you will never get it. I thought about writing this article about an hour ago, but I made the conscious decision to write it 5 minutes ago and started putting my fingers to the keyboard. Most people spend lifetime thinking about something but never make the decision to get that something.

Now you're made the decision to want it, what next. Do something, anything, to get you closer to getting the thing you want. If you want to be a stand up comedian, go to comedy clubs and see other comedian's technique, get the vibe, start writing your own material, listen to the greats. Do anything as long as you are going down the path to reach your goal.

Once you build up momentum you will go on and do more to reach your goal. Each little success will help you build bigger successes in the future. When you get knocked down or there is a setback, which there inevitably will be, get back up straight away.

Along the way you might start to think "˜this is not for me', question that doubt. Questioning the doubt will help you realise if you don't really want what you were originally after or you are afraid to get it. There are a lot of people afraid of the success of getting what they want. This is a topic for another article.

So just to re-iterate MAKE A DECISION ON WANT WHAT YOU WANT and you are halfway to getting it.
