The partying and celebrations are over. You are back at the office, or at least you have settled back into your usual routine. It’s time to think about what you’d like to accomplish this year. It’s a new year with a new beginning and challenges. There’s no better time to evaluate your life. Where do you see yourself this time next year? What are you doing?
To be awesome in 2015, if that is your plan, then read on because we have exactly what you need. It’s called THE STOP-START GUIDE TO AWESOMENESS and consists of thought-provoking words that inspire and motivate.
Right now, as you do your own evaluation, we invite you to use this STOP-START GUIDE to help you on your way to living your best year ever.
THE STOP-START GUIDE TO AWESOMENESS
1. STOP CONCERNING YOURSELF WITH WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK.
When you are concerned about the opinions of others, you lose the ability to express yourself and connect with others in a genuine way. So spend less time worrying about what others think and more time on pursuing your goals, so you can live the way you want to live.
“If you have a passion or interest, don’t be afraid of what other people think and say. Don’t stop believing yourself.” Ritu Ghatourey
“The unhappiest people in this world are those who care the most about what other people think.” Nikhil Saluja
Instead ““ START BEING YOURSELF. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.
What you can achieve is limited by how you perceive yourself.
Know who you are and what you want to do in life. What is your passion? What’s special about you? What fills you with excitement about being alive? What are your skills and abilities?
You can do anything that you really want to do. Just BELIEVE that you can. You are unique. You have your own special gifts, ideas and experiences that make you “you”. Accept this fact and let it empower you to reach your goals.
“Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.” Bruce Lee
“Always be a first rate version of yourself and not a second rate version of someone else.” Judy Garland
2. STOP THINKING THAT YOU’RE UNIMPORTANT ““ NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
Now, that’s what is referred to as beating yourself up, or thinking negatively. It’s hard to be successful when your mind is thinking the opposite. Any time you feel that you’re not good enough, change your negative thinking to something positive. Remind yourself that you really are important.
“Having a low opinion of yourself is not “˜modesty’. It’s self-destruction. Holding your uniqueness in high regard is not “˜egotism’. It’s a necessary precondition to happiness and success.” Bobbe Sommer
“All I can tell you really is if you get to the point where someone is telling you that you are not great or not good enough, just follow your heart and don’t let anybody crush your dream.” Patti LaBelle
Instead ““ START BELIEVING THAT YOU ARE AN AWESOME PERSON.
Get that “I’m important” feeling by acting as if you are. Tell yourself, over and over, that you are a fantastic person. Live positively.
“Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.” Norman Vincent Peale
“You have to be strong and courageous and know that you can do anything you put your mind to. If somebody puts you down or criticizes you, just keep on believing in yourself and turn it into something positive.” Leah LaBelle
3. STOP WORRYING ABOUT FAILING.
Life is too short to allow fear to take over your decision making. Fear of failure will hold you back from achieving something new, doing what you’re passionate about or following your dream. By overcoming your fear of failure, you’ll be well on your way to living a rewarding life.
“One who fears failure limits his activities. Failure is only the opportunity to more intelligently begin again.” Henry Ford
“Forget about the consequences of failure. Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success.” Denis Waitley
Instead – START BUILDING CONFIDENCE AND ACHIEVING SUCCESS.
How do you start? Walk confidently with your head held high. You’ll need confidence before you can reach your success goal. Feel and look confident and you’re half way there.
“Confidence is what we get when we take fear, face it and replace it.” Tim Fargo
“The most important thing for success is self-belief and confidence. Believe you deserve it, believe you can do it, and you will get it.” Anil Sinha
4. STOP THINKING THAT SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE WERE BORN THAT WAY.
YOU can learn to be successful, because your success is under your own control. Successful people have to work at what they want from life. They think about and focus on success but they also take action and persevere no matter what.
“Whenever you see a successful person, you only see the public glories, never the private sacrifices to reach them.” Vaibhav Shah
“If you have a dream, don’t just sit there. Gather courage to believe that you can succeed and leave no stone unturned to make it a reality.” Roopleen
Instead – START TAPPING INTO YOUR LIMITLESS POTENTIAL.
There’s enormous potential within you waiting to escape. Get rid of all doubts and follow your dream. Challenge yourself. Dare to achieve, excel and be happy. Start now to tap into that unlimited potential you might not have recognized in yourself.
“Studies indicate that the one quality all successful people have is persistence. They’re willing to spend more time accomplishing a task and to persevere in the face of many difficult odds. There’s a very positive relationship between people’s ability to accomplish any task and the time they’re willing to spend on it.” Dr Joyce Brothers
“The bird dares to break the shell, then the shell breaks open and the bird can fly openly. This is the simplest principle of success. You dream, you dare and you fly.” Israelmore Avivor
YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU WANT TO DO ““ SO START NOW
Motivate yourself. Read words of inspiration several times every day so that you fill up with excitement about what you want to achieve.
“When you develop yourself to the point where your belief in yourself is so strong that you know you can accomplish anything you put your mind to, your future will be unlimited.” Brian Tracy
“Throughout the centuries there were men who took first steps down new roads armed with nothing but their own vision.” Ayn Rand
“I believe if you work hard and you dream big enough, you can accomplish anything in this world.” Buddy Valastro
BE MOTIVATED BY SOMEONE YOU ADMIRE WHO HAS ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING SPECIAL.
For example, listen to the 11-year-old girl, Sirena Huang, playing her violin.
Sirena obviously receives heaps of joy from doing something she is good at, and also loves.
Discover what you are good at and what you love. Work at it, as Sirena has done, until it fills you with pride and spreads happiness to others.
START RIGHT NOW!!
“Do not wait; the time will never be “˜just right.’ Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.” George Herbert
I hope this will be your best year ever. Now it’s over to the awesome you.
I invite you to leave a comment about how you’ll do things differently this year so that it is your best year ever. Maybe we can learn from your ideas, too.
