It ‘ s not always easy to stay happy all day every day in this world where news is depressing, work sucks and your kids are driving you nuts. No it certainly isn’t easy to keep that smile painted on your face when all you really want to do is scream and cry and maybe even throw things, like a temper tantrum, perhaps? Yes, certain stresses and life situations eventually take their toll on you and it seems almost impossible to maintain a positive attitude on any given day.
I get that. I used to be like that. Try to smile, struggle to do that, want to throw a fit instead and then when another day ended I realized, yet again, I wasted a lot of my precious energy on negative emotions. I also knew it was time to make a change. So I started experimenting and practicing with things that were going to help me get out of lower energy vibration into a much more pleasant one. One of happiness and positivity .
1. Always start the day with a Thank You.
Even before you get out of bed, before your feet touch down. As soon as you realize you are awake, say thank you. Thank you for an other day of life. Do this immediately. This may take some practice too. Who wants to say anything before coffee? It’s necessary. Thank you thank you thank you. You’ll appreciate another day, another gift.
2. Zone out.
Or should I say Zen out? Either way, as soon as the crap starts hitting the fan in the kitchen in the morning, just Zen out. Let it go and don’t get caught up in it. The kids are fighting, the wife/husband is cranky, and the news is spewing more negative stuff. Here we go again. Step out of all the chaos. Take a moment to breathe deep and let it go. Close your eyes for a couple of minutes if you can and just be present within yourself. Never mind the chaos.
3. Talk to yourself at some point in the morning.
Not just any talk though, positive talk only. Tell yourself this is going to be a stellar blockbuster super awesome day. Any way you want to say it, just do it. But wait, not only say it, get really excited about it . Feel it. Feel all the excitement of the day tingling inside of you before it’s even started.
4. Do at least one kind thing for someone every day.
Whether it’s on your way to work or at work or whenever, try to do, at the very least, one super kind thing for someone today. Better yet, make that someone a stranger. This is the best feel good medicine out there in my opinion. The smile you receive from them will be the greatest gift you will receive today.
5. And of course meditate.
It doesn’t matter what you read or how often you read any self-help book you will always find meditate in there for one reason. It works. If you find yourself in the middle of a chaotic or stressful situation go lock yourself in the bathroom if you have to and do a mini meditation. Breathe out the bad, breathe in the good. In no time at all, you’ll be back to happy again.
6. Get a little exercise in.
This might not be easy for everyone but just try. Even 15 minutes if you can. Go for a brisk walk or do some exercises in your office or at home. Whatever you can do, do it. Exercise has always been, and still is, the best therapy for anything , especially grumpy moods. Dance, walk, jump up and down, whatever gets your heart beating and your body moving. You’ll see how much happier you will be in that short time.
7. Take a happy break.
Take 5 minutes just for you. Put your feet up, close y our eyes, listen to some awesome music really loud, or take a short drive in the car, whatever you do, make sure you do it just for you. Consider it a me break. We all need one and yes, every day.
Getting into a happier mood and raising your positive vibration is really fairly easy but the best part of it all is that it will not only make your day, but possibly someone else ‘s, so much better. Try a few or all of these methods and you will see just how fast you get happy
