As I write this post I am sitting in the beautiful country of Turkey in a small place called Orhaniye.  My family and I renting a villa there for the summer holidays.  I can hear the sound of crickets, birds and bees and am looking at the green, tree covered mountains.  I can also hear the sound of praying ring out throughout the countryside as Turkey is predominantly Muslim, it’s all extremely relaxing.

This would not have happened if I had not made the move to go and actually find this place Sakin Vadi and start the process of speaking to the owners of the villas and finding out more information about it.  We were close to getting a package holiday and then I spotted Sakin Vadi.  There was a few days where I let the thoughts of booking the holiday ruminate in my head and then I took action and started the process of finding out more which led me to eventually book it.

The space between letting it ruminate and booking the holiday is ‘The space between nothing and something’.  before I left for Turkey I made a presentation to describe this a little better and I would like to share this presentation with you here.

So please enjoy this video and as always let me know what you think.

The Space between Something and Nothing ,was a very powerful and moving video, and I do not mind admitting, it brought tears to my eyes. What an extraordinary individual Nick Vujicic is.
Many thanks Steve. Enjoy your holiday.

    • Thanks Amit, The holiday is great so far, just good to get away and enjoy the life of another country.

  2. rob white says:

That’s a good one, Steven. What an amazing spirit Nick Vujicic is, thanks for introducing him. Nothing strengthens us like looking at life during a struggling moment from a healthy point of view.

Your vacation spot sounds ideal… and well deserved.

    • Hi Rob, isn’t he amazing, I know a lot of readers will have seen him already but for those who havn’t this will have been a real treat. The holiday spot is perfect, even better than it looks on the web, although I am wilting in the heat :)

  3. Jenn says:

Really nice vid. I like that you included “relapse” in your steps. People need to know that most of us will indeed relapse and we need to learn from it and move on, not dwell on, and in, it.

One complaint- apologies- Maybe it’s just my old ears, but I couldn’t hear some of the bits Nick was saying due to the music.

I am definitely sharing this with friends and my mum!

    • Hi Jenn, glad you liked the video, I thought I had turned the music down really low when nick was talking, will look at it when i get back. Tell your mum to leave a message if she likes it :)

  4. Robin Easton says:

Dear Steven, This moved me to tears. I’d seen some of the video footage previously, but it was the way you put it together, and the poet, inspirational wording that you used to make it dynamic.

You really are on a roll here. Just beautiful, moving, life giving. Bless you dear friend. And thank you. You just keep going, because with every step you take you shine more and more.

Much love to you and your family in sunny Turkey!! :)

    • Hi Robin, your words seem even more powerful when not in the comfort of my own home. I am so glad you enjoyed the video and I am glad you made a comment, it’s great to read your words whilst sitting on a porch wtih the glistening of the swimming pool, the sounds of nature and the sun going down.

Wow — so powerful. It really puts everything in perspective. “If you haven’t failed, you haven’t lived.” Well, here’s to living!

Thanks so much for sharing. Have a great time in Turkey!

  7. Great video and presentation Steve. I really enjoyed that one and thought it really drove some important points home. One that seemed to stand out to me was the fact that we really just have to go after the things we really desire. We may not always know for certain how they will work out, but if we just stand back and do nothing, we will never end up in the place we want to be. Thanks for sharing the video and hope you enjoy your time in Turkey.

    • Hi Sibyl, thanks for your comments on the video, so glad you enoyed it. Taking action is what we were born for and you are right, we will never end up in the place we want to be if we don’t take action. Holiday is great so far Sibyl and it’s great to be writing this from another country.

  8. Ah, this is so inspiring. This is why i love coming here and just taking time to take in every word, photo and video. Thank you.

  10. Good presentation and two videos Steven… Failure is a sign that we are living beings. As for Nick Vujicic … I have no words to describe this man…

Take care, enjoy your summer, and bring us a postcard from summer holidays in Turkey :-D

  11. Annette says:

    Merhaba Steven!
I have a real affection towards Turkey so good to hear you and yours are having a lovely time, enjoy your break.
What a lovely presentation, I found it inspiring and moving at the same time. Amongst a number of things I picked up on, it had never occurred to me before that some storms were to prove hard to weather. Sometimes its too easy to miss things.
    Thank you.
    Annette

    • Günaydın Annette. Turkey is beautiful and we have found many secret spots with the help of our guide and owner of the villas over here in Marco and Vera.

Thanks for your thought son the video i really appreciate it.

  12. Karen says:

    Hi Steven,

What a wonderfully creative and motivational video!

I think that the important message is to take action on your goals and be open to any serendipitous events that may occur. If you were dead-set on your first choice, then you might have missed the better option for the villa.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful summer in Turkey. You’re making memories that your children will remember forever.

    • Hi Karen. I think to get what we want in life it’s all about taking action, however to take action we need faith in ourselves and our abilities, if we can get some faith then we are almost there.

Thanks for your thoughts on the video i really appreciate it.

Beautiful Steven. And by the way, I lived in Turkey for three years with my family – I have been meaning to return someday – some gorgeous spots for vacation and I hope you are having a grand time.
My little brother is my true inspiration. He is legally blind but a genius. When I am down, I talk to him. Can you imagine he cheers ME up about life? Really, sometimes we need just a little perspective…..
Is it your voice on the video narrating? Very creative and I am fully inspired now! Thank you!

  15. Hi Farnoosh. There are some beautiful spots here, we were in Kinidos yesterday and the scenery is spectacular.

Sometimes it takes someone else’s perspective to help us look at life in a different way so I understand what you mean.

    Glad you liked the video.

  16. Scott Dinsmore says:

What a masterpiece you’ve put together Steven! I love when I’m going through my day not even looking to be inspired and then Wham! I’m fired up to go after life with even more passion.

    Nicely done.

To fail is to be humen but to get up and keep trying because you beleive in what you are doing is truely special, will bring you the results that you are looking at getting, success and to live your dream. this short video is great for teenagers with alot of peer presures, working out who and what they want to be in their life. By letting them know they are special and they can make a diffrence, just by being themselves and knowing where they want to go in their life.
