Mind Alchemy Day 6
Today is another great exercise to help you think about what you ultimately want to do with your life and what direction to take.
Your Perfect Day is an exercise used by a lot of coaches to help clients clarify what they really want to do with their life, and it’s an extremely powerful exercise to introduce images into your mind of where you want to be, say in the next 1 year, 5 years, 10 years.
I have asked clients with alcohol issues to do this, typically here is how it goes:
They describe their perfect day for around 10 minutes and go through all the scenes in their head and tell me about it. 99% of the clients with alcohol issues don’t ever mention having a drink in their perfect day. When I point this out to them at the end of the exercise a lot of them are stunned by the thought that their perfect day would not involve alcohol in any way. It’s another way of moving forward: getting the client to admit, visually, that they do not want alcohol in their lives.
The exercise has a similar effect on clients I life coach for. When the exercise is done correctly you may find some things out about yourself you hadn’t previously thought about.
Take time to really get into this exercise, it can take 30 – 60 minutes so make sure you allow some time to complete it. It’s better to do it in one sitting, that way you are working on it on a subconscious level, and not thinking about it too much, your subconscious already knows all the answers to the questions, but if you think about it too much your conscious mind gets in the way.
How to do the exercise
First of all download today’s exercise worksheet, which you can use to describe your perfect day.
Download perfect day exercise here
Now, write out your perfect day in the form of a story you are telling someone else. To help you get the best out of this exercise try and make it as vivid in detail as possible. When you are writing your story answer all the questions below.
Your perfect day questions
What time do you wake up?
Who do you wake up with (if anyone)?
Where are you living?
What does your bedroom look like?
What does your house look like?
What does it smell like?
What do you do when you get up?
What do you have for breakfast?
What are you be thinking about?
How do you spend your morning?
What do you have for lunch?
Who do you eat with?
What are your friends like?
What would you do for personal development?
What is your life purpose?
What is your business/job?
What time do you start work?
What would you actually do at work?
What are your clients like?
What is your relationship like with spouse? Family?
What do you do for family time?
Where would you eat?
Who would you eat with?
What do you talk about?
What time would you go to bed?
How are you feeling when you go to bed?
What do you think about before you close your eyes?
Your perfect day

Good Morning, Steven…. Just glancing at Day 6, and I noticed that there’s no hyperlink in the text that invites us to download the worksheet for today’s exercise.
Thanks Jeremy, that’s it sorted now.
Another great day of Mind Alchemy. Today I must finish DAY 5 and do DAY 6. No worries there, I just do this. However Steven it says: “Download the exercise here.” There is no download link, if the questions are “it” below, I just copy and paste them into Word and answer them from there. Thanks again for everything you’ve done so far for me and the others who are participating in Mind Alchemy.
Have a great day Steven and fellow Mind Alchemists

Great stuff Angeldadi, keep the perfect day in your mind and visit it often
“It is a pleasant spring morning and I wake at 6am feeling rested after a good night sleep. The early morning light is seeping through the blind of the large picture window of my bedroom. I get out of bed and open the blinds to see the beautiful and serene view of the rural setting of my detached home. The birds are singing outside as the early morning sun begins to rise on the horizon, lighting up the early morning dew.
My wife is still asleep as I walk out of the bedroom through the spacious hallway and into the kitchen to make tea and toast. I put 2 slices of brown bread into the toaster and switch on some soothing classical music, a little Grieg. I take the morning cup of tea through to my wife and see…………”
I’ll post the full story on my blog today. This is just the taster to lead you in!!!

@Marty: Great story, looking forward to read the rest of it. Good luck.
Hey Marty, great lead in to your perfect day, looking forward to reading more on your blog.
Wow Marty!! That is spectacular. I so resonate with your ideal morning and setting. I think I too have to do a post like this, about my ideal morning. Maybe I will do both, my ideal morning and my ideal evening. It just feels so soothing and healing, and is very much like a mediation and manifestation.
Thank you SO much!!
Robin
And thank you Steve for inspiring us all.
your question were just awesome …i really realised that i am struck with one thought for the whole day long .
I am really eager to learn from your next day article ..and really wanna carry on with that .
Hi Naina, so glad you enjoyed this, hope you had a ‘perfect day’
hey steve ….m really impressed with ur thoughts ..keep sharing
@ Steve.. That’s a little marketing technique I’ve picked up. Dangle the carrot and leave more for expectation later. Looks like it works!
Marty recently posted..Will you take part in an experiment Im setting up
Lol, good marketing technique Marty.
I’ve done this exercise before. I read about years ago in a book called Wishcraft by Barbara Sher. It a wonderful allabout creating an ideal life.
I have many of the elements of my ideal life already. I call them my ideal elements. I have an amazing backyard. I start my day with a soak in my hot tub. I exercise every day. My wife and I have a wonderful relationship. I am developing my speaking abilities. My dream vocation is coming into veiw.
If you look closely at your ideal day ………..If you look at the values underlying that day……….You will find ways to incorporate some ideal elements into your day right now. If you see yourself lying on a sunny beach does that beach have to be in an exotic location or could you just sunbathe in your backyard or you can just enjoy soaking up those rays anywhere anytime.
Dearest Steve, I am just blown away by this. Your questions here are incredible, beautiful, and touch deeply on the core of what is essential for peace, joy, love and vitality. Just stunning. I am very moved by them. Bless you dear sweet friend. Hugs, Robin.
PS I hope it’s okay because I am going to print them out. I rarely print anything. You are a gem!
I’ve so missed our conversations Robin and it was a pleasant surprise to see your comments here. As always you brightened my day and I’m so glad you liked the questions enough to print them out. Hope you had another perfect day.
@ Robin. Thank you so much fro your kind words. I’m so pleased I connected with you. Your material is so inspiring. Your smile and your gentleness in the way you share is a joy to witness. Very great blessings to you..

@Steven – I have finished writing out my perfect day and what I realize is there is so much you can do with one day, it’s quite amazing, especially if you have the freedom, there is so much you can do but there is more to this, it somehow wakes
you up and you start to think “What am I doing with my day today” and I have a choice to do things which will move me forward my “Perfect Day” – Thank You!
Looking forward for DAY 7
Hi Engilbert, it is amazing what we can achieve in one day if only we decide to live. Thank you so much for being a great member and for giving feedback.
I totally agree with you there – Thank you for your kind words
This was a fun exercise today. I’ve never really been much of a story writer, and it probably shows. But, I did enjoy writing this:
I wake up a 7 a.m. feeling great after a good night’s rest. The bedroom is quite large with a king size bed, a sitting area, walk in closets and a master bath. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi bathtub and a shower with multiple shower heads. I put on my bathrobe and go out onto the deck that overlooks the beach (or lake, or mountain view) and enjoy a morning cup of coffee while I have my Bible study and devotion time.
For the rest of the story, please see my blog: http://stevejans.blogspot.com/
I am trying to catch up with your series. I enjoy how you broke up in questions to help us envision our ideal day. Your questions are helpful in creating a better idea or image in our minds.

I am glad you enjoyed this exercise.
This has been a wonderful course so far and has made me think much more than I usually do. Probably not as complete as it should be but here is my perfect day:

Great stuff steve.
Steven,
I’ve fallen behind over the weekend and I’m really looking forward to this one. The questions that you ask in this post really bring the image of a perfect day to life! I will write a post on my blog about this.
Thanks!

I know you’ve caught back up now, just wanted to say thanks for the comment.
Hey!
After a great weekend in the mountains without internet and computer…I’m back…trying to catch you on the way, but these things require very big concentration. How ever I’m very thankful for these training, it’s getting out the puzzles out of my messy head and leads me on the way to clear image of me.
This has been the most pleasant exercise for me this far… it was delightful to imagine an ideal day… and a bit unexpected because I didn’t mention some of the things/activities I was sure that I’d write about. I guess they are important to me, but not as close to my heart as what I did imagine.

I had done this exercise a few years ago at a weekend self-help seminar. And interestingly, many aspects of that day have come true. I am now in the right relationship, in the right place, working in the right business. I’ve still got a long ways to go, but I would highly recommend this exercise.

Thanks again Steven for your enormous support and passion to make our lives better. God bless you always:)
