Nneka from balancedlifecenter.com has been putting out some great articles week in week out for the last year or so now.

I was reminded last week of her writing ability when I read a powerful post called ‘3 differences between surrendering and giving up’. The post hit a chord with me with phrases like this:

When you surrender, you are calm. When you give up, you are exasperated.
When you surrender, doors open. When you give up, you slam the doors shut.

I have read a lot of the blog and some of my favourite posts are:

Therefore, for this week I would like to say Nneka is my star blogger of the week.

I first came across Kara-Leah Masina when I was researching guided meditations last week. Her post Ten free guided meditations on the net was very good so I decided to stay a while. It is a great cocktail of spiritual, positive thinking, eastern and western religion, non religious, law of attraction and everyday life.

Kara’s writing style is very engaging and it drew me in and I had to read more of the posts. Her conversational style of writing makes it easy to read and the length of the posts can be short, which is a good thing sometimes as it encourages one to read more. Some of the pictures on the posts are also strange and beautiful which makes the blog all the more engaging.

The blog itself is minimalist in design and has a beautiful picture of the sky as it theme heading, I have a strange passion for clouds and this picture really is beautiful to me.

The blog is not overly monetised, at least not above the fold. I notice a lot more ads below the fold which is good for the readers, not so good for Kara-Leah. Having said this I think monetisation is not as important to Kara-Leah.

Another way Kara-Leah hopes to make money is by giving details of her PMO Coaching (Physical Manifestation Overhaul). Having read the series whereby Kara-Leah has a dialogue with Jeff Lilly of Druid Journal I would say the coaching would definitely be worthwhile. The coaching is donation contributions so nobody is excluded from this, however paying for a life change is worth spending the money on.

A great personal development blog

I have long been an admirer of Jonathan Bankert and admired his writing and his blog. He is a strong believer in the ‘Law of Attraction’, which comes across strongly in his articles; however, he backs up his belief with life examples.

Jonathan is a deeply spiritual person and has a religious view of life, but was disheartened at a young age after a few life set backs. He began searching for the ‘meaning of life’ and found ‘spiritual laws’ and ‘the law of attraction’. He has managed to blend this thinking with his religious views, which makes for a great blog.

He has just received an award from fellow blogger Jennifer Jones which he is genuinely pleased about and rightly so. I think his writing will be recognised more and more.

This weeks star post is about a subject most feared in the world; public speaking. Andrea Dickson has written a post for wisebread.com entitled ‘Sound more confident in one easy step’.

It’s a very short article as it focuses on one aspect of public speaking and that’s introducing yourself. I won’t spoil it by giving away what is said but it’s worth a look.

The whole blog is worth a look and it is getting better month on month with some fantastic quality articles. I know they are in the Positive Blog Network but I am being completely unbiased when I say it’s a great blog.

I have strayed slightly form the star post and really want
to tell you about 2 stars in the blogging world Denise Wakeman and Patsi Krakoff. Since
most people who read this blog are bloggers everyone will benefit from this
site and podcast.

I have been listening to a fantastic podcast for the last
few days. ’Blogging
and beyond‘ podcast is a fantastic resource for all bloggers to learn
about marketing, PR, and better writing. There are tips galore on the show
and their blog and the two presenters Denise Wakeman and Patsi Krakoff are
brilliant. The show also has an expert guest every week. Guests have included Paulette
Ensign, Joan Stewart, Chris
Knight, Tom Antion and Dave
Taylor.

They also have Erik Feder of www.wheretofindparkingblog.typepad.com/ every
week to coach him about leveraging the internet for his business and it seems
to be helping him a great deal.

This weeks star post comes from ‘Steve’ over at Steve’s Goal. There is
not much information on Steve on his site, in fact it looks like a work in progress
but there are some interesting articles on his blog. I was first alerted
to it from Gleb Reys blog showing a list of 70 great blogs.

This weeks star post is about time management and it gives three simple tips. I
chose it because it was simple but very effective. read ‘Simple
time management’ here.

Having trawled the internet for interesting articles on personal development
I have found another blog that I think is really good. It is ‘A
better you blog’.

I discovered I have posted to a lot of the same carnivals as Patricia
at ‘A better you blog?’, which is probably understandable
as we are both in the personal development field, nonetheless it was a bit
strange when I carried out a search and found we were both on the same carnivals.

The post I have picked this week is ‘5
Steps to overcome your fear of failure’ which I thought hit
the mark on several points. Patricia, suggets 5 steps for overcoming
fear:

I thought this post offered very practical advice for overcoming fears and
would help a lot of readers. I hope you enjoy it.

Today I read a story that touched me and being honest brought
a tear to my eye.  I read the story again and then asked my wife and children
to pause the TV program they were watching and read it to them, I choked again
when I read it out but only my wife noticed.  The blog was that of Sania
Wyatt’s and the story was entitled ‘My only prayer’

I discovered Sania’s blog as someone who had visited my blog
on the MyblogLog community board and visited her’s in return.  I have
since read a few entries and think the blog is really good. 

So this weeks entry for Star Post of the week goes to Sania
Wyatt, the very first blog post that has made me cry. 

Sania keep writing great posts, I look forward to reading
