A Second Has the Power To Change the World

Life is made up of moments. We classify these in various segments of “time” – but really they are all just moments. And every moment is composed of many tiny segments.

In every single one of these tiny segments, we have the chance, the option to cause great change. In fact, we always do, whether we are conscious of this or not.

As so many of us get wrapped up in various spiritual and personal development ideas and paradigms, sometimes we forget to live out what we learn and actually put it into action.

So what does this all mean to you and I, and every moment of our lives?

This means, that life, learning, evolving and growing is happening right now – as you sit there, as you take a jog, as you choose what you buy, as you hug a loved one, as you criticize the government. In all these moments you ARE changing the world.

But how could this be you may think? I am but one, small and perhaps insignificant person, minding my own business, focusing on my own life.

And that is just it – your life is interconnected to all that is. None of us are small or insignificant. If you are here in this physical existence currently, your thoughts and actions matter just as much as anyone else’s.

Many of us still cannot see how this can be, for surely I and my thoughts, words and actions are not as significant as the president’s, for example. But that is just the thing – they are. For if another person does something which we feel is not of the highest possible vibration for the good of all, you and I have the choice to add to that vibration or alter it to reflect the vibration of love more clearly.

Transformational Connections

When we send out our thoughts, wishes, wants, desires or preferences, we are connecting with the universal matrix of life. We are all interconnected.

We must therefore not be surprised by political turmoil, wars or violence on our planet. As long as there is turmoil within you, wars within yourself and between your closest loved ones, or violent ways of living in any and every area of your life, so too those will exist on a grander scale.

You are the microcosm. What you see in the world around you reflected is the macrocosm. See the connection. Know that you and I are shaping everything that is, was and ever will be.

This is where, every single second has the power to change the world. If 7 billion people  made the same decision in 1 second, we would see immediate results. But here is the thing, we do not need everyone on this planet to think or act the same way. In fact, it has been proven that very small numbers of individuals have the potential to create big change. We have seen it throughout history and are seeing it today.

According to Gregg Braden for example, in his book The Spontaneous Healing of Belief, he states that the minimum number of people required for great change is the square root of 1% of the population. That may be astounding, but again, we see this play out in various ways, time and time again.

“Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” -Margaret Mead

Transformational Thoughts

Therefore, the next time you are about to put down or criticize someone for example, catch that thought and transform it – transform it to reflect the kind of world you want to see and live in. Transform it to reflect the highest version of you – the vibration of love.

With every thought, you and I are creating our world. This concept is still pushed away by many for two reasons, I think. One, is that we were always lead to believe that some external force(s) are making life and this world the way it is. And two, for many people this kind of responsibility seems overwhelming.

But you and I are creators. Many of us are awakening to this idea and starting to see it more and more clearly in our own personal lives. Now the time has come to expand that idea, and apply it on a broader scale. Not only are you and I creating our own lives, we are all collectively creating the world as we know it.

If you are happy with every single area in your life, and thus the world, then you have nothing to do. Just keep being and doing what you are.

If however, you see areas in your own life or this world where you crave change, be that change. Stop waiting, stop pretending it does not exist and start transforming.

While we may not all be able to live in conscious awareness of all of our thoughts, words or actions 100% of the time yet, every bit of growth helps.

Therefore in this very second, you and I can choose thoughts, words and actions of love and light to change the world or we can stay separated from the connections that bind us all and create the world we see.

What do you choose?

  1. Hi Evita, welcome to the CYT group of Authors.

I loved this article and thought it was a perfect one for CYT for many reasons. I often say to clients your life can change in a second, it’s all about making a decision, and a decision takes less than a second to make.

It can be a bit of a mind whack trying to get your head around the fact that your thoughts and actions can influence the world.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Steven

Thank you so much for the warm welcome and for opening up your incredible space here to me as well, as a contributing guest author.

I appreciate your feedback a lot, and similarly feel and live the changes I want to see in the world, through my own life and actions.

Everything that I think, say and do today, has taken on a deeper meaning, as I realize the power we each hold in how we shape our world. You are so right, it can be a big and even overwhelming realization to embrace or simply just realize, how much influence each of us have, but I encourage each person to rise to their highest version of themselves, and welcome that realization, and watch their life, and their world transform right before their eyes….

I look forward to interacting with your readers, many thanks again :)

    Hi Evita

Recently I have been thinking about the choices I have made in the past and the impact they have had on my life. Many of those choices I made in an instant and without much thought and the repercussion still ripple through my life.

I believe that “I am the cause and the solution” for what happens in my life. Taking complete responsibility has been good for me. I am not sure about the universal matrix of life but I do like to think that at someone level we do have a connection – otherwise the world would be a very isolated place.
    Very interesting post

    • Evita says:

      Hello Marion

Wonderful to “meet you” and thank you for sharing your thoughts on this topic here.

I think we can all relate on various levels as to some of the things we said or did in past moments, and the effects those had on us, when things were done without a greater conscious awareness.

The best part about that however is, that nothing is a mistake. I truly stand by that. Every moment brought us to where we are today, and every present moment gives us the chance to look at things and approach things in a new way. There is a greater purpose for it all. That is not meant to excuse our past actions, but meant for us to move through them in a peace-filled way, to grow in the now, and evolve our being today as we choose to add positive energy to the collective.

Much love to you along your continued journey!

Evita, I’m sending you a virtual standing ovation for this post! This is a concept that I’ve been trying to wrap by mind around for some time now…our thoughts truly do have such tremendous power in our lives. Power, that if harnessed, can be used to create positive changes in our lives…and as you have pointed out…in the world! However, when we’re unaware of the power of our thoughts and let them run amok, they can wreak havoc in our lives and drive us toward destructive behaviors.

One of my favorite quotes is from Buddha, who said: “Our lives are the creation of our minds.” It’s even bigger than that though… as you so eloquently pointed out, “With every thought, you and I are creating our world.” I really appreciate the sense of responsibility and accountability this idea brings. My negative thoughts not only poison me, but they have a ripple effect that reaches out to everyone I interact with as well. On the other hand, when I plant positive thoughts in my mind, they too will grow and hopefully spread out into the world to take root. :)

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and stirring mine!

    • Evita says:

      Hi Adrienne

I am so touched and humbled by your comment – thank you!!!

I love the quote you included from Buddha, and yes, our thoughts indeed have such tremendous power. I think this is the perfect time on our planet to really start realizing that, and welcome that accountability.

Many may fear it at first, as it can be overwhelming, but when we really allow ourselves to open up to this concept, it is so empowering for our lives and the potential it holds for this planet!

Authenticity Resonates Deeply and shakes the world Up in the process of settling for Nothing. True Living is often Un-Settling as we pick up our roots and blow with the wind. We are always in the right place at the right time as the world is in the process of unwinding its self on multi-dimensional levels. What looks like turmoil and chaos is in reality a collective sigh of intensive release.

Evita, your article is wonderful and illustrates that no matter what we say or do or feel…..we are connected to every other action being played out in the universe. There are no ordinary moments where for every action there are countless reactions. When one pulls the string on the web, everyone else gets tugged and goes for a ride. But, when we cut our strings to certain affiliates, there is then less tension impressed upon certain frequency of operation, which then allows people to see themselves better. Pressure has been alleviated and a new perceived you emerges from the un-entanglement. With every attachment that is broken, a higher frequency of resonance is attained.

One person truly can change the world, and its time to take a good look in the mirror, and to see ourselves in all that we focus upon, and to that which we are attentive to. We can stop feeding the waves of resistance and begin propagating waves that will allow all individuals to touch Infinity Its Self.

    • Evita says:

      Hello 2-b

Thank you so very much for your feedback, comment and wonderful additions and insights regarding this topic.

If we can all just pay attention to what we give our focus to daily, and assess how that is impacting our lives and our world, we would be living in a new world instantly.

This is a wonderful article. It makes me realize that everyone is interconnected, and that there are many levels of influence in our lives. We are influenced by those intimately connected to us, such as friends, and family, as well as by those we just acquaintances with. Even further, we are influences by the grander culture around us. All this impacts us and we impact it. This is a very powerful realization that we also impact this larger macrocosm and play a role in the way the world can be. I guess in this sense, one person can make a difference. Thanks!

    • Evita says:

      Hi Joe

Yes, one person – each and every one of us can and is making a difference. At first, and to some it may not be that obvious at first, but the changes one sees in their own personal life very quickly give all the proof we need, that not only do we create our own reality, we also create the world around us.

I love this idea: “…the minimum number of people required for great change is the square root of 1% of the population.” Somehow, I just love getting specific! It reminds of the idea of the 100th monkey from a number of years ago.

    Evita,
We are all connected. This is something I believe very deeply. And in that, what I choose to do/say/be – that does make a difference. Is that a difference toward my higher self, or away from it? Or – as you so beautifully said – toward a vibration of love.

Everything that we do (even in our non-doing) has an effect. Everything.

Your words today resonate deeply, and hold much meaning for me. I’m reminded of a quote by Viktor Frankl:
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
Each moment of our lives…we choose our response…
And in that, we change the world…whether we believe that or not…

  12. Thanks Evita. Surely we are all connected whether we realize it or not, and our actions and thoughts whether large or small in our eyes do have great impact as you say. We’re also one with whatever is back of this “visible” universe, unavoidably so, and the same principle holds true there. We’re not so insignificant by a long shot as we think.
It’s a sadly over-used and mis-used word. But if I express Love into this little sliver of time we call a moment I’m aligning myself with the only true power there is anywhere — I’m playing my part in helping the spread of authentic happiness and peace in the world.

    Dear Evita,

I find it fascinating that modern physics is reaching the same conclusion sages have for thousands of years – we are indeed interconnected with one another and the entire universe. How amazing is that!

I am awed by the fact that we get to be in our unique bodies and having an opportunity to create our life. I believe we do largely create our reality by our thoughts and emotions.

And that’s where the moment enters. I often say we fantasize a future that is perfect when the right person, job, situation, comes along. And we miss the boat.

A great life is created by a series of great moments. If we focus on negatives throughout our day, guess what, our life isn’t going to feel very good!

I remind myself to experience love throughout my day, by giving love. The greatest challenge is to face and acknowledge the moments I’m repulsed by something or someone.

How to transform THAT into love and compassion. My sincere longing is to grow in love and compassion.

Thanks for reminding us to be in the moment.

I like this: “If however, you see areas in your own life or this world where you crave change, be that change. Stop waiting, stop pretending it does not exist and start transforming.”

I have had some problems with a neighbour recently. As I have been working hard to change my attitude I have had to decide to be more loving (even if the issue does need dealing with). That has transformed me, and eventually may transform the situation. Even if it does not I am being the change I want to see in the world.

    Nice post, thanks.

      Hi Doug

That you for your moving comment. I applaud you for taking the action you have with regards to your neighbour. People often think they have to “prove something”, or “take revenge” or “teach the person a lesson”, etc…. etc… but that truly gets us nowhere. Even though our Egos may rejoice temporarily, in the long run it results in pain for all those involved, and moves the vibration of the world away from love.

Wishing you courage and patience as you look within your soul and always live out the love that you are!
