You’re absolutely right, it’s often tempting to try to undercut the competition when you are entering a new market but in reality people often get suspicious if your prices are too low. They figure it’s a low quality product or service and so with the low prices you are often reducing your likelihood of making sales.

Once again, a great point. I recently started tutoring middle and high school age children. In trying to pick a price, I considered trying to underbid other tutors. I realized though, that if I don’t even charge a certain rate, I will not be taken at all seriously.

More expensive services and items typically denotes higher quality. If you already know that your items are high in quality, why not charge what they’re worth?
