success and the law of attraction

The Law of Attraction has become a buzz phrase in the last few years and a phrase that you either love or hate. Whether you believe in the law of attraction or not it is still useful to look at it and apply some of the principles and experiment with them.

I have used the principles of the law of attraction on a daily basis and do see a huge difference in my life. However I have noticed a few things along the way which hinder my progress. When you know these five forgotten rules you can speed up the power of your intentions.

The five forgotten rules

  1. The more you use it the more it works – A few people have said to me that the LOA doesn’t work for them. when asked what they are doing they inevitably tell me they have tried the ‘visualization thing’ for a few days and it doesn’t work for them. I have asked them how long would they play the lottery before expecting to win anything, some said a lifetime, some said a few years, and various other answers were offered. LOA is akin to the lottery and it’s rules. First of all you have to buy a ticket before you can win it. Secondly you have to buy a ticket every week to increase your chances, however slim, of winning anything. So it is with LOA: You have to practice it everyday to gain anything from it. Unlike the lottery you always win, whether it be attracting all your goals, decreasing your stress levels through visualization, increasing you mental abilities through visualization, meeting new people along the path to your goals, you always win.
  1. Juice your intentions up with emotion – I have discovered that if I simply state an intention and visualize it and forget about it, it doesn’t come to me. If I visualize it and give it real emotions and do this everyday my goals will happen. Giving your intentions emotions are giving them energy, when you create the energy you have momentum, when you have momentum you create a power, when you have the power you are listened to, when you are listened to you will achieve your goals. This is perhaps the biggest single barrier to not achieving your desires. You have to give your desires and visualizations energy and to create the enrgy put some emotion into it.
  1. Give out more than you take – I believe that LOA is about balance in all it’s forms. If you achieve your financial goals give some back to charity or the community or offer your services free. If you achieve you goal of finding your perfect partner show gratitude by treating your partner and their family the right way. If you achieve your goal of passing your university exams make sure you use the degree wisely.
  1. Show gratitude – The reason you are here today, reading this article, is that you believed you would wake up today safe and well. A lot of people don’t have that luxury. We all get mixed up in our own worlds, and we all take our world for granted. Why not take five minutes a day to show we are grateful for the world we have.
  2. Only tell people about your success when it has been completed – This is a strange phenomenon I have noticed with the LOA. For example I had a goal to make a success of affiliate marketing and I was doing great until I started telling people about it. I wrote a post on it, I told some friends and family and almost overnight the sales stopped. And this has happened a lot in my life.I have thought about this a lot and I have come up with a reason for this:When you have an intention you work toward it and keep working until it is achieved. When you are in the middle of working toward it and you tell people about it’s current success you mind has decided you have reached your goal and therefore the energy of the intention disappears.

Taking the affiliate marketing example. I worked for months studying affiliate marketing, tried a few things and failed a few times. Then I finally had some success and was making money. At this point I hadn’t told anybody about it and had a lot of drive and energy to continue making it a success. However as soon as I told someone about it my drive dropped a little, my mind energy was a little depleted with the goal and the success stopped overnight. It’s because the mind energy for that goal has lost it’s power as it already thinks you have achieved your goal as you are telling everyone how much a success you are.

So, if you have a goal of getting £5000, don’t tell anybody about it until you have the £5000. Don’t tell them you are nearly there with £3000. read the ‘Silent Power’ to further explain this.

  1. Thanks for a thoughtful article though I’m not sure I agree with everything.
    1. Playing the lottery weekly doesn’t increase your chances of winning. What you say may be true for the LoA but the analogy is bad.
    2. What does this mean? Don’t just state your intention but state it while screaming and crying?
    3 and 4. Agree.
    5. This is counter to what everything I’ve read about achieving goals has said. Supposedly making goals known is a way to push yourself to get them done or face embarrassment.

  3. This is very nice, especially #2. For Johnston, if I might add my two cents, even if it was not asked for ;)

Emotions don’t necessarily mean that you scream and cry. It could mean that you truly feel it, with your body. As in, someone is looking at you with a dead look on his face but saying “I am happy.” As compared to someone who can feel it inside his body, and has a joy and aliveness inside him. Sometimes he doesn’t even have to say it, you’ll know he’s happy. At least, that’s my take on it. :D

  5. Hi Johnston

First of all thanks for commenting. i would like to back up my article with the points your raise.

Point 1. If I buy a lottery ticket 1 week and never buy it again I have absolutely no chance of winning the lottery after the first week. therefore if i buy a ticket every week I antuarally increase my chances of winning the lottery. I think you are getting mixed up with odds, i didn’t say the odds on you winning the lottery would increase i said the chances of you winning, purely due to the fact that you are buying a ticket every week, incrreases your chances of winning the lottery.

Point 2. Totally agree with Albert here. My emotions run high when I get excited about something, when i think about a goal I get excited about it, therefore releasing energy. No need to cry or scream but if that works for you go for it.

Point 5. again i think you’ve misunderstood me. It’s okay to have a goal of losing weight and telling people what you are doing as this is a good motivator however don’t brag about it or lose sight of your goal by telling people as if you’ve already made it a success, you have to keep reminding yourself you still have to reach your desired goal. I believe this is because you unconsciously tell yourself you have already reached your goal and the energy for that goal stops flowing.

I hope that makes it a little clearer.

Albert, thanks for clarifying some points. It’s good to see you on here with your comments. i appreciate your feedback.

  7. Steve,
Excellent Article. I especially like the second point about juicing it up with emotion. When our emotions run high, we are much more likely to attract faster. It does not need to be screamed and shouted about, but the intensity inside should be kept high.

  11. I have been looking all over the web for help and everything I found was the same old boring crap I already tried with no success. I believe in a deeper psychology and I think theres still a lot people dont know about how the mind works. I always thoght that visualizing your goals and dreams was a good way to accomplish them but I always get sidetracked and go back to my numbing state of mind. When I was younger I dreamed about, thought about and visualized things all the time and everything was going my way. Now Im older and Ive quit dreaming and it seems like nothing ever works out for me not even the simplest of things. I think its my apathetic view of life thats caused me not to dream anymore and now my lack of dreams trapped me in a mental prison.
I believe Ive found some good advice now thank you for recalling that for me I feel more reassured about it now.
    thank you

  15. Nice article. I am working in a compeny with poor salary about 10 hours per day. It’s bad and stressing work. I have 10 hours per day negative energy and negative thoughts. Is there enought 5 minutes per day (at nights) positive feelings to change my life?

  17. Hi Steve,

I like this article. Glad I found it.

Simple rules for a simple principle of life.

I recently found out about the concept of Seed Money and that really applies to rule 3.

    Have a great day.

  33. Greetings,

nice article, short and to the point :)I agree that whatever your perspective on the law of attraction , experimentation is key, you have to adopt the principles and try them out for yourself, observe them for yourself. In many ways your empowerment in life comes from becoming your own scientist, you develop your own perspective by being willing to experiment and question everything.

    Keep choosing guys,
    Grant :)
