I think it's already well proven(although probably not "believed" by many) that you can indeed alter the way the cells in your body function and the very "intention" of slowing your heart rate or lowering your blood pressure or speeding up your metabolism to burn fat, can have a powerful effect. However, most poeple do need some help to confirm to themselves that these things can work for them and so many good programs like NLP and some simple Self Hypnosis tapes can really change the way we think and ulimately change our beliefs.
