It is very similar to an initial discovery session when first meeting with a new client. I think to help increase the intensity of this technique would be to, in Davids case for example, put his answers to paper regarding the question-"what one thing would you like to say to your boss?" It is based on a technique called 'Lettering Go' write no holds barred what you really think and would like to say to someone safe in the knowledge they will never see it and then destroy it once you have read it out loud in private. It works on the premise that the brain can not differentiate between reality and the vividly imagined. It will appear to your brain that you have actually said the things you have longed to say and be a complete weight off your mind. You may then find a new level of tolerance towards your boss and your job may seem more tolerable than before. You never know until you give it a go!
