I was agreeing with what you blogged here, until I got to #5. I am not God. And when I pray, I pray to a personal being outside of myself. I don't know why you brought up your lack of faith in the reality of a personal God.

To believe in God & the bible is not in anyway self-limiting; on the contrary belief in the God of the bible enables one to truly live a life without limit---knowing that everything I do has an eternal perspective & eternal & infinate rewards. It's a motivating thought, to know that what I discipline myself to do, will not just count for my time on earth, but will count forever.

(The rest of the article I agree with)

Although I'm not arrogant or narcissistic, the world does revolve around each and every one of us to some extent.

We live by how we perceive the world. As we grow older, we can break down these barriers but it's still viewed from within our own mind.

It's a bit like how others perceive you vs. your own self perception - it's always going to be different - but who better to understand the world around you than you.

This is a belief list worth sharing with my readers and with my clients. Oftentimes, we can cover our beliefs through becoming a passive observer of our automatic thoughts. Over time, we will identify beliefs that are not helpful. At that point, we can do a cost benefit analysis of whether it's worth it to hold on to that belief. We can then design a belief that serves us much more effectively.

All of these are a good reflection of common false beliefs. You're right they hold us back and limit us to lead mediocre lives that could be so much better. Imagine if you were to take just one of these false beliefs and reverse it - you would experience change in your life , compounding the effect by bolstering your belief in possibilities of real change.

Great post. Also people adopt other people's belief and convert them into their own without realising it, so they never really realise the actual belief that is preventing them as it has a different source as oppose to their own.

What an inspirational post! ... Like someone else said here, a lot of people just stop trying. I've certainly felt that way sometimes, but the instant I realize what I'm doing is the moment that I spring back into action.

Being aware of who you are and what you're doing is key in my opinion.

Cheers!

Gosh, it must be hard dealing with those beliefs. My parents had a rough time after leaving Iran and we certainly didn't enjoy luxury but not once did I feel the lack of support and love and belief from them, although I was pretty much encouraged to only go for a strictly technical/engineering education - which in hindsight didn't suit me well but that's a different story. Thanks for this list!
