Keeping your ads above the fold and blending them into your page will help with the CTR as well. You might also want to make sure that you are targeting the right keywords so that you get more traffic from the Search Engines as well. More traffic in = More traffic out

My best advice is make a website that is solely focus one topic. For example, I made a website solely about chat, and below each of the navigation bar, i put text link ads. This works. The google crawler quickly sense my topic and many chat ads appeared instead of irrelevant ads. Check it out:

Hi Steven thanks for the information I’ve had similar experience with AdSense ad placement and color schemes. Would you mind sharing the code or plugins for the “embed a 250×250 link unit in every post”? I’m new to WordPress and have been having no little problem solving some of these coding problems.
