I agree that happiness is an inner game and we need to find it within ourselves to be able to see it around us. The idea of being unhappy in order to be happy is an interesting aspect to the case of happiness, but I do believe that it can help us become more grateful. It is always good to receive some insights from different people. I saw a website that provides happiness coaching and workshops, a great way for people to share insights and ideas. For more information see http://www.lifehappiness.org/

Very true. I've found that going through the hard times results in stronger good times. Certainly a lot 'happier' when you have something to compare your happiness to.

Here are a couple of related quotes that I have pinned up near my computer...

"A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes." - Hugh Downs

"Happiness is a butterfly, which, when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you." - Nathaniel Hawthorne

Reading your post just reminds me of something I read the other day that just stuck In my mind

"Plenty of people miss their share of happiness, not because they never found it, but because they didn't stop to enjoy it."

I always like to see how other people interpret things different or similarly to myself.

An interesting post. I agree that until we see the lowest, we appreciate the higher levels much more.

Thanks,
Dr Andrew Power
