I loved your article. I'm taking a class now and your paper is really relavent to what we are studying. A question I would like to ask is would you consider beliefs as being opinions? Try this for an example; Everytime one says I believe or the belief is... say in my opinion or in his/her opinion. Will this change what you believe? Also can a belief ever be proven true? Especially when it comes to religion. A lot of people do have some belief in a higher power, an All in All, or God? Why? What truths or experiences have they come across other than what they have been told since child hood.

Great article. A couple of comments though. Changing one's beliefs is a very difficult process as evdenced by the comments defending God. Certain beliefs are so ingrained that questioning them creates extreme anxiety. Rather than changing internal beliefs one must attempt to change their external world to enforce their beliefs. An excellent example is religion where certain people will do anything possible to convert others to their beliefs. One must first create an "observing ego" like what you illustrated in your process that does not threaten the belief but merely observes without judgement.

nicely said Steven,

there is nothing more powerful than wanting to know more :-)
All great scientist believes in a power called energy and mystics called it God. Whatever choice is always correct. But what I want to comment is this energy/god you were always looking for exists inside in everyone of us, not some old-man-in-the-sky. If you really wanted to know the TRUTH then study the knowledge NOW, presently. Not the books or old relics from the past millions years ago. The reason why I said that because how DID you know the writtings in books or the words you were receiving are correct? Its been translated and translated and edit so many can't-count-times. So learn and understand the knowledge NOW and not the PAST.

Regards,

If you beileve firmly in gods creation and not challenge your belief you will not question why ? and how we exist on this planet. I am not sure if this comment will make sense to any readers, but this is my point of view and the way I reflect on the subject which has been raised on this current page.

HI. You descibe belief by using the word belief. This is not a primer, but confusing for me. I think you understand it, but it wasn't clear to me. Oh, I believe in God because He put that in me. I never not knew He existed, ever. I 've heard His voice and have been led by His Spirit for 35 years. I think you have to really want the truth, and you'll be led to Christ everywhere you go. The bible says there He is seen in nature, and that only a foolish person says there is no God. I think by foolish He means "just not thinking". Just a thought.

Excellent primer on beliefs, man. I've been studying on beliefs, and it's my contention that beliefs are nothing more than habitual patterns of thought/intention.

I've been long fascinated by the notion that by changing our beliefs, we can change reality. What's cool, to me, is that the better and better we get at manifesting what we really want, the faster and faster it happens for us.

Keep up the info, man! :)
